Good Web Standards

We know how important it is that the web is universally accessible and useful for everyone. That’s why here at Omni our development team strives to make your website useful to your users regardless of their abilities, location or available technology.

Where our projects require it, we make all our sites Double AA accessible. This ensures that people who are unable to use a mouse or who have poor sight can navigate and use the website effectively. We achieve this using a range of techniques and procedures to ensure a high quality finish, these include:

  • High contrast style sheets and ability to toggle between them
  • Scalable text
  • Careful consideration to background and foreground colours with the ability to change them if necessary
  • Descriptive text on all images and links
  • Full tab indexing (This allows users to navigate a site using the tab key on their keyboard)
  • Good semantic mark-up (This ensures content is displayed in a logical order even if a style sheet is not applied)
  • Screen-reader friendly mark-up (This ensures that screen reader software such as Jaws can make sense of the content and portray it to the user in a way that makes sense)

We also understand that in today’s world you need to be able run your business and access your website from anywhere in world on nothing more than a mobile phone. That’s why we can also treat your site to our mobile development service. This ensures that all major functionality can be accessed and used from a mobile phone and that all core information is easily accessible. We test our sites on most major handsets including:

  • iPhone and iPod Touch
  • Blackberry
  • Google Android powered phones
